  • OUR STORY

The Peasants Feast started life as a restaurant devoted to country style food (provincial European and modern Australian), its tapestry and farm decorations emphasizing its rustic home away from home atmosphere. Over the years it has developed an established reputation renown for its superb tastes, varied and creative original dishes and friendly service with its own distinctive Newtown character. For the loyal regulars who know and love it well, its their secret country retreat located in the heart of Australia's busiest city, serving te greatest tasting food in all of Sydney.

Then along came a new owner, Dr. Robert Warlow, a Clinical Immunologist, Allergist, Immunopathologist and Medical Researcher, who knew and loved the restaurant well. From his many years in medical research, he had concluded that "What you put in your mouth determines whether you stay healthy or become ill and how long you live. You can't change your genes but you can change your eating habits to avoid diseases. YOU TRULY ARE WHAT YOU EAT!!!". His evangelical crusading goal was to provide healthy food which prevented diseases rather than causing them. And to create a haven for lovers of vegetarian and vegan meals as well as seafood, poultry and meat dishes, (with all of the fat painstakingly trimmed away!). The restaurant's old world counrty style, superbly tasting meals, freshly prepared utilising nature's own raw ingrediants suited this goal perfectly. It meant going back in history to an age without artificial additives, antibiotics, hormone supplements, pesticides and other synthetically derived chemicals in the food. To achieve this, organic produce has been incorporated into the meals, industrial grade water purification filters have been installed for food preparationand cooking, protocols catering to people's individual dietary requirements and policies eliminating artificial chemicals and processed food ingrediants are now operating in the kitchen and the deep fryer has been discarded. Synthetically processed, transaturated and deodorised oils are now permanently banned from the restaurant and cold pressed organic olive oil and organic butter are used instead. Dishes are cooked at lower temperatures and for the baked and roasted food this is done over a long period of time. No burning is allowed to occur, ever. Cooking with care and devotion to produce a healthy dish is the goal. This is an act love and social responsibility.
